The Classroom First Strategy and Department of Education Strategic Plan for WA Public Schools 2016-2019

While we strive to improve all aspects of our work, some areas of improvement warrant higher priority by the Department of Education. They consitutue the key objectives for Classroom First Strategy and the Strategic Plan for WA Public Schools 2016-2019. We have linked these Key Objectives in our Esperance PS Business Plan.

The objectives are relevant to staff working in Schools, Regions and Central Office.

Our purpose is to ensure all public school students leave school well prepared for their future and have opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to achieve their individual potential and play an active an part in civic and economic life.

Classroom First Strategy

Objective 1: To make every student a successful student
We want all our students to leave school well prepared for their future, equipped to prosper economically, be happy and secure in themselves, and ready to contribute to their community.

Objective 2: To have sound teaching in every classroom
We want our teachers and school leaders to take a personalised approach to helping each student take the next step in their learning so they can work towards achieving their potential.

Objective 3: To ensure every public school is a good school
We want our schools to provide a safe and welcoming environment with programs that challenge and engage their students.

Objective 4: To provide practical support for our teachers and support staff
We want our teachers and support staff to have access to the support they need so they approach their work with confidence, enthusiasm and commitment.

Objective 5: To deliver meaningful accountability
We want our teachers to be accountable for the progress of students in their class, and every school and the system to be accountable for their performance.

Objective 6: To build public confidence in our schools
We want parents to trust our schools with the education of their children, and for the wider community to regard our school system as well managed and with the interests of students and their parents first.
